AFRIKA KORPS
A Scenario by John Petroski
(just copy and paste this txt to word if you have it, I am only including it for you who dont have word).

This scenario was originally started by none other then the famous Harlan Thompson. Unfortunately for the Civ2 world, he decided to no longer make scenarios for Civ2 siting that CTP would be where his next endeavors would be spent. I, having known that he was making a scenario about the African conflict of WW2, asked him if he was going to at least finish it before he stopped for good. He said that he did not intend to do so, and he asked me if I would like to take up the job. I agreed, and have completed the scenario. I would like to give thanks to Harlan from all of us for making some of the best scenarios available on the web.

Background: September 1st, 1939, Germany invaded Poland sparking WW2. Germany has since run rampant taking over Poland, Denmark, Norway, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, and France. Her Jr. Ally Italy now wishes the same glory that has been bestowed upon Germany. To satisfy this wish, she looks to Greece and British held Egypt. With the capture of these two important countries the Mediterranean will become an "Italian Lake". It is your job, to insure that they succeed.

Victory Objectives

AXIS: Your goal as Germany and Italy is to capture the key cities of Alexandria and Suez by scenario's end. Failure to accomplish this, is failure in the scenario.

ALLIES: To win, the Allied powers must drive the Axis off the continent of Africa for good. Also, an outstanding victory for the Allies would be if Rome were in Allied hands by scenarios end.

Special Notes

This scenario will NOT work without MGE Civ2 (AKA ultimate Civ2)

This scenario is NOT copyrighted. You may post it freely on your website (provided you inform me first).

The Belligerents

AXIS: The Axis powers are the protagonists of the scenario. They comprise initially of just Italy, but as time goes on, and Italy flounders, Adolf Hitler sends more and more German equipment and armies to save the faltering Italians on many fronts. You absolutely need the German equipment to win in this scenario. British infantry can destroy your tanks with ease. They can not however, destroy the massive Tiger tanks that Germany will eventually send you.
Be prepared to wait the first few turns, possibly while losing many of your troops, for the Afrika Korps to show up. Once they are in position, you can successfully launch an offensive, but will the first offensive succeed? It does not seem certain

ALLIES: Although this scenario is not made to be played as the Allies, I have decided to tell you their main strengths and weaknesses so that you will have a bit easier time defeating them.
The Allies start off with 3 big advantages: They have a large navy, and they receive 4 units of reinforcements per turn (unless you take Malta as the Axis). This is compared to the Axis' mere 2 low-quality reinforcement units per turn. Also, the Allies start the game with much better tanks then your Wimpy Italian ones, in fact, ANZAC troop's rifles can penetrate your tanks armor!
All in all, the Allies are in a better predicament then the Axis in this scenario. There are certain things that you can do to of course to help even the odds, but when the dust settles you may very well find yourself out of Afrika. It is a tough scenario.

OTHER BELIGERANTS: The other countries start off SO weak that it is pointless to explain what to do and not do with them. All the advice that you should need is that in Greece you really do need some reinforcements from Italy before you can take the entire country.

Special Units

I will now tell you of some of the "special one time units" that you have at your disposal.

Erwin Rommel: Great unit on Axis side arrives via events. It could win you the war if you manage him right. (No penalty for loss of this unit other than loss of a tremendous weapon.

Montgomery: Basically the "Rommel Unit" of the British side. His stats are slightly worse then Rommel's.

Axis General: A powerful unit that can be used in the attack or scouting role. Be careful though, if you lose just one of these you will suffer heavily.

British General: Same as Axis General but no penalties for loss other than loss of great unit.

Events

I am not going to go into great detail about the events in this scenario so as not to spoil the surprise. All that I will say is that you should as the Axis protect your Generals and take Malta at all costs!

Credits and Acknoweadgements

-I would like to give first and foremost thanks to Harlan Thompson (harlant@hawaii.edu.) for starting this project and then allowing me to finish it! I mean this really is a joined project although he would never admit it. He put so much work into this scenario that it is a shame that he himself could not finish it, but I did my best folks.

-Thank you to Mike Jeszenka (michael@jeszenka.com) for putting in some good hours worth of playtesting and also for helping me to get the change terrain event to work! Without this the simulation of cutting off reinforcements would not have been possible!

Unit Icon Author's:
(It should first be noted that I believe that Harlan made many of the top-notch units that you see here but he never seems to put his initials on anything! I seriously think that he made the majority of the tanks but I have no way of knowing! Whoever made them did a great job though)!

Secondly, I would like to thank all the unit icon author's who over the past civin' years have made such great units to choose from! Here are their initials, real names, and emails (whenever possible).

Terrain

I believe that Harlan Thompson drew most of the terrain, as with most of the unit icons.

Well, if you are a ticked off scenario maker who has spotted something that I forgot to mention just email me and I will change it right away!!!
